We’ve all known people that it is never their fault. Right?

They like to find someone to blame their problems on so they never have to take responsibility of them,
The anger and self-righteousness are a disturbing feeling of excitement to them because it means they are off the hook for their own issues.

It takes a mature person to accept and admit they have screwed up their own life up.

All by themselves. Their negative thinking, always fantasizing in their mind, then letting others know how it is someone else that has caused the problem. They never acknowledge that they may actually be the problem.

It is abuse to their family and all those who have to interact with this type of person.
They usually make people anxious about being around them, and they are never truly respected because of the displays of their weaknesses. The problem is that many times they get the help …too late… after the people that did love them,  chose to not associate with them anymore. Their family suffers so much undeserving abuse.

And the cycle continues……if you do not seek professional help.

I have decided there will always be someone who is prettier than me. There will always be someone with a bigger house, more friends, better clothes, a better job, and more money than me. There are some that seem to value success on the wealth of a person, judge their value on their looks or the success on their accomplishments.

I was never really interested in trying to be better than another in outward appearance but I see more and more that it is important to some. What I do see is when we fix our eyes on those qualities it makes our relationships with others turn into power struggles. I have seen some that have spent so many fruitless days wanting or trying to measure up to someone else.

Coming from my background, I spent my life never being smart enough, never being beautiful enough, never being the one family or friends wanted, never having my worth defined by wealth, status, or success. But according to what I read in the Scripture it is very clear what is valuable to God. He isn’t mentioning the words like success, wealth, clothes, or jobs but clearly it says what the Spirit will produce in one’s life and heart, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance:…”Galatians 5:22-23  And these things are available to everyone. That is the part I love about God. He offers it to everyone!

My attention was turned to Matthew 1:19. “He (Joseph) was minded to put her (Mary) away privately”. What a verse of compassion! Imagine it. Here is this young man whose life had been wholeheartedly surrendered to the will of God. I’m sure he and Mary were a good-looking young couple, but it must have been Mary’s heart, bent towards Heaven, that attracted him to her so strongly. How it must have surprised and shocked Joseph to learn of Mary’s pregnancy! (more…)
