I will never forget Demetrius!

Over the last week my thoughts have been led back to our encounter with Demetrius this past winter.  Demetrius, an apparently mentally challenged person that my husband invited to church one Wednesday night. My thoughts continue to go back to the shoes he had on. (more…)

Sex Trafficking in America

“Imagine you are a 13-year old girl. You do normal 13-year-old girl things: go to school, hang out with friends, fight with your mom. Then one day you meet an older guy who promises to shower you with gifts and help you fulfill your dreams in the big city. You trust him and run away from your family and friends to a strange place, and he starts telling you need to start working, need to make money so you can be happy together. Before you know it you are sucked into the world of forced prostitution and sex trafficking. All your money goes to your pimp, whom you thought loved you, so there is no escape, no way to get back the normal 13-year-old life you left behind.” (more…)

−Life doesn’t always turn out the way we imagined it would.
−We have been confronted with loss, been battered in the storms, and sometimes dazed at not knowing what happened.
−We live in a fallen world and it’s all part of living here.
−Regardless of the circumstances we face – there is always hope.
−A hope that is true no matter what we have been through.
−Hope in God whose ways are higher than ours.
−Hope in the future He Promised He has begun to prepare for us.
−Hope that even though the rain clouds have come they will surely bring flowers tomorrow.
−I can’t even begin at this time to comprehend how He will bring this to pass.
−There is no limit to what My God can do.
−All I know is I Believe.

Isaiah 43: 2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Fleetwood was the runt of the litter. His Momma didn’t want him so our son had to take him way to early. This precious 9 year old pit bull has been the joy of this grandma’s life!  He was the perfect puppy for me.  God knew I needed him and if you read this post you will see Ben needed him too! He has been a joy to our life!

This video didn’t come out with a pretty picture but oh the words! Just what I needed.

Mini Croque-Monsieur  Fancy name for this Kentucky girl!  One thing I do know is that it was phenomenal! These little fancy sandwiches may  seem like a lot of work, but once you’ve made the sauce, putting together two big sandwiches and cutting them into individual rectangles means it is no trouble at all to serve enough for a crowd.

I have found the key to entertaining are these make ahead recipes. The recipe calls for Pullman loaf and I had never heard of it so for me my choice would be sandwich bread. I really think that’s what it is! You know, another one of those fancy names. lol (more…)
